New England Ice Cream, Corp. hired Boston Industrial to assist in the design of a new Cooler and Freezer Warehouse and Distribution facility. The new 60,000sf headquarters will be located in Norton, Massachusetts.

NEICC is a privately owned business and a distributor of ice cream, frozen items, refrigerated and dry goods throughout New England, utilizing a blend of vehicles to distribute directly to stores, schools and wholesale food service companies. They have experienced significant growth over the past few years, with the acquisition of new product lines and markets creating new requirements and prompting the company to expand and consolidate operations into a new state-of-the-art distribution facility. The new facility, which is currently under construction by The Campanelli Company, will allow NEICC to improve supply chain synergies and reduce operating costs over the next five years and beyond.

Boston Industrial partnered with NEICC’s Operations and Corporate Leadership team to develop storage and picking options based on company’s product assortment, sales volume, and expected annual growth. Working directly with operations personnel, the storage options were finalized and detailed picking design was completed. BI provided NEICC with a detailed infrastructure design and cost budgeting to show proper ROI for all systems under consideration. This allowed NEICC to select the proper systems that were needed to meet increasing customer demands. Site work on the facility has begun and our team is looking forward to further assisting NEICC with specification, final process development and the transition into their new facility.
