Power Stop Steps on the Accelerator

The BI team started by gaining an in-depth understanding of the current operation through a combination of on-site observations, key personnel interviews, and a detailed data analysis. The evaluation was crucial in determining operational and systemic recommendations to enable Power Stop to meet short and long-term strategic goals. The team identified four focus areas of improvement:

  1. Expanded Storage Capacity
  2. Higher Pick Efficiency
  3. Greater Pack Efficiency
  4. Implementation of Simplified Processes

The solutions will include new racking, conveyance systems, improved pack station design and process consolidation. Central to the improvements will be the implementation of a new ERP system in conjunction with a Warehouse Control System, which includes the use of Voice Technology. The new systems will efficiently guide the picking, packing and replenishment processes. Additional pack automation equipment will also be installed to further allow faster pack processing times.

Implementation will commence shortly, where BI will assist Power Stop with the procurement and implementation of warehouse equipment, software, picking and packing technologies.

In the Pipeline:

  • BI continues their partnership with Wesex Construction, a large regional contractor specializing in Mid-West and Mid-Atlantic regions. A 3rd project is Memphis is currently underway in design; other locations in construction include Pittsburgh and Ohio.
  • BI is currently evaluating Automated Storage systems for a Bioscience operation that is seeking a more automated Stockroom solution to reduce footprint and labor.
  • Crane and attachment projects are currently popular; we are involved in designing 5 systems to lift, move and position parts safely using cranes and hoists.
