Boston Industrial has been hired by Autodesk to assist in the design and outfit of a new Incubator facility focused on bringing Autodesk’s vision of “Imagine, Design, and Create” to the community.
The BUILD Space (BUilding, Innovation, Learning, and Design) is scheduled to open in spring of 2016 in the Innovation and Design Center on the South Boston Waterfront. The BUILD Space will feature machinery and tooling intended to showcase and develop innovative fabrication methods and technologies with a focus on the AEC industry. The facility will include Industrial Robots, Woodworking and Precision Machining, Composite and Glass Forming spaces, and 3D Print and Laser Cutting. The space is designed to accommodate a diverse population of users by offering equipment that allows for a wide variety of technology, precision and formats to be used. BIC’s responsibilities on the project include research and specification of equipment, documentation of the facility’s design requirements, collaboration on the design of the facility’s MEP systems, and management and coordination of the equipment delivery and commissioning.
BIC is part of a team of companies who were hired to collaborate on this project using the IPD (Integrated Project Delivery) method. IPD is used as an approach that integrates people, systems, business structures and practices into a process that collaboratively harnesses the talents and insights of all participants to optimize project results, increase value to the owner, reduce waste, and maximize efficiency.
