Boston Industrial: a Year in Review

As we look forward to 2016, we recognize that our continued success relies on those who believe in us, our mission and expertise. Before we start to share Boston Industrial’s newest accomplishments, let’s look back at last year’s success stories.

Boston Industrial started off strong. We helped Southwick repurpose an old Lowe’s department store in Haverhill to a new manufacturing center. We had only 2 months to complete design, and 1 month for relocation that involved 450 independent pieces of equipment.

In July, Potpourri Group, Inc. started construction on a new distribution center in Littleton, expected to open Q1 2016. Boston Industrial was brought in to design a master plan for the new 450,000sf warehouse including a basic footprint, workflow, process and material handling improvements, and specify a new Warehouse Management System.

Set to kick-off live fulfillment in early 2016, AC Lens will be the first U.S. based company to adopt the Rowa Vmax Automation System. Boston Industrial helped to implement this pharmacy stocking system to accommodate AC Lens’ vast inventory of contact lenses. This German Based machine does it all, from storage to distribution.  We’re personally very excited to see it in action here in the U.S.

Autodesk reached out to us, and in September we finalized a design to outfit a new Incubator facility. Located on the South Boston Waterfront, the new facility is set to open in the spring of 2016. The new BUILD (BUilding, Innovation, Learning, and Design) space will house machinery and tooling to showcase and develop innovative fabrication methods and technologies for the construction industry. For this project, we were part of a team collaborating through the IPD (Integrated Project Delivery) method.
