Boston Industrial Will Modernize Operations at Potpourri Group, Inc.

eBlast PhotoIn Littleton, Massachusetts work has started on a sprawling new state-of-the-art Distribution Center for Potpourri Group, Inc. (PGI) a catalog and e-commerce company. The new building will improve quality, and introduce automation resulting in efficient distribution output.

The Distribution Center, an industrial complex off Ayer Road (Route 110/Route 2A), is expected to open in the first quarter of 2016.

Town Administrator Keith Bergman attended the groundbreaking ceremony in May and was highly complimentary of PGI’s commitment to developing a modern, efficient and attractive facility. During the ceremony, contractors never paused, with vehicles kicking up dirt behind a tent where the ceremony took place, as a concrete foundation for the building was being formed.

Boston Industrial was hired to develop a Master Plan to include the basic footprint, workflow improvements, process efficiency, material handling systems and Warehouse Management System for the new 450,000 square-foot warehouse. The warehouse is estimated to cost $49 million to build, and over $9M of equipment and software systems to outfit it.

Billerica-based PGI, which owns 15 home decor, jewelry and gift brands, will be moving out of its current distribution facility in Whitinsville. The company says it plans to retain over 200 full-time jobs, and hire an additional 130 full-timers, as well as offer up to 200 seasonal jobs in the new location.
