On Wednesday, October 5, Autodesk officially opened its BUILD (BUilding, Innovation, Learning, and Design) Space in South Boston waterfront’s Innovation and Design Center.

The BUILD Space features 11 workshops and a wide variety of machinery intended to showcase and develop innovative fabrication methods and technologies with a focus on the Architectural, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industries.

Boston Industrial Consulting was part of a team hired to collaborate on this project using the Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) method. This modern approach for construction projects integrates people, systems, business structures and practices into a process that collaboratively harnesses the talents and insights of all participants to optimize project results.  IPD members and representatives for the Project Management Team included:  Consigli, State Electric, TG Gallagher, Spagnolo Gisness & Associates, Autodesk, Jones Lang LaSalle and WSP Group.

Our team was responsible for the research and specification of equipment to meet the user’s needs; the documentation of the facility’s design requirements; the collaboration on the design of the facility’s MEP systems; and the management of the equipment budget, delivery and commissioning. Throughout this project, BI utilized many of Autodesk’s products, including Revit, Field, Glue, and A360 to help deliver a final Building Information Model (BIM) to Autodesk’s Facilities Management team.

Boston Industrial executed the project to help Autodesk realize their vision of “Imagine, Design, Create” along with its goal to foster innovation in the Greater Boston community.
